Senior Design Manager


The Company

Our client is a leading construction contractor with 40 years in the industry and a £100m turnover. They hold a proven track record of delivering award-winning developments across the UK for a variety of clients ranging from blue chip companies to public sector projects.

The Project

As an experienced Senior Design Manager, you will work on various projects within residential, leisure, commercial and retail sectors with build values in up to £50m+.

Requirements

It is essential that you hold the experience below;

* Extensive background, with a proven track record of success on major projects with a proven main Contractor or subcontractor
* Experience working in similar position on new build / refurbishment projects with values in excess of £10m+

* Holds strong leadership qualities
* Great time management expertise
* Experience of most forms of contract
* Excellent sales and presentation skills
* Ability to multitask and prioritise projects
* Strong communication and attention to details
* Indication of strong interpersonal and people management skills

The Role

* Job Title: Senior Design manager
* Job Type: Permanent
* Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire
* Project: £50m+ Various residential, leisure, commercial and retail projects across Yorkshire
* Reporting to: Managing Director

Duties

* Managing technical drawings and plans
* Identifying efficiencies, risks and opportunities
* Ensure that the design is compliant with the brief
* Working closely and reporting to Managing Director
* Provide a turnkey design service during the pre and post contract
* Developing and maintaining the projects design management plan
* Develop innovative design solutions to clients' briefs with input from the design team
* Ensure full compliance with all relevant codes and standards including Building Regulations
* Liaise with all members of the development team, from consultants to the sub-contractors
* Managing external figures in order to arrange; fee proposals, appointments and variations
* Identifying and managing risks and opportunities through value engineering and on-going technical awareness
* Providing management and support to the project design team and delegating tasks to team members according to their specific competencies
* On-going review to identifying the most cost efficient way to deliver the required level of functionality and recommending possible alternatives for proposed construction details and systems to reduce costs
