The Project
Are you an experienced Contractors Engineering Manager "CEM" with a strong background in managing civil contractors? We have an exciting opportunity for a Contractors Engineering Manager to join a Dynamic Team!
Remote working is available up to 2 days per week.
Requirements
For this role it is essential that you carry the following qualifications or experience as a minimum;
* Experience within construction industry, in particular rail civil and design experience.
* Previously acted as a Network Rail signed off CEM.
* Chartership status: CEng or MICE
* Experience of renewal project in the civil rail environment.
* Temporary works designated individual competency - advantageous
* Worked within the UK Rail sector for a significant part of their career and will have good knowledge of CDM regulations, Network Rail Group and line standards.

The Role
* Job Title: Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM)

* Reporting to: Technical Director
Duties
* Using initiative and confidence to put forward solutions based on sound engineering principles.
* Challenging the brief, enabling innovative development of unambiguous engineering solutions from feasibility through to detailed design
* Design and checking of engineering solutions
* Production of clear, consistent, referenced calculations, reports and sketches to current CoP and Standards
* Clear communication of design philosophy and requirements with other team members
* Appreciation of the team's financial, quality and programme targets
* Promoting safe working practices in all areas
* Management of staff and projects
* Provide guidance on design and engineering matters to all stakeholders including the leadership teams
* Manage Contractors Responsible Engineers (CRE's) within the business
* Act as the company's representative at industry and client events, for example safety by design briefings, cascading information internally to relevant parties
* Act as the Company's Temporary Works Champion
* Act as Contractors Engineering Manager on projects as needed
* Ensure the communication and implementation of engineering requirements with respect to construction works undertaken by the Company and its Subcontractors
* Track the progress and ensure the high standard of designs and engineering management across the company
* Ensure the fitness and use of Inspection and Test Plans across the company
* Coach & develop future CEM's and CRE's within the business
