Quantity Surveyor / Estimator


The Company

A privately owned Regional Contractor / Developer that delivers high quality projects across the residential sector.

The Role

Quantity Surveyor / Estimator leading the commercial department on securing and monitoring project financials on residential developments in the South Yorkshire region, with a view of becoming the Head of Department / Directorship role in the next 2 / 3 years.

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications

As the Quantity Surveyor / Estimator you must possess the following;

* Established estimator or QS with minimum 5 years' experience
* Knowledge of new build and refurbishment projects
* Project value between £10k and £1m
* Good communicator, able to deal with a range of people, tasks and obligations
* Well organised, self-starter, able to implement procedures and effectively manage all aspects of the works
* Commercial knowledge and ability to negotiate terms with a range of parties

Duties

* Preparation of cost estimates
* Establish procurement strategies from earliest possible stage
* Develop direct reports in accordance with company policy
* Advise on finalisation matters of risk, qualification and margin
* Prepare and maintain robust, accurate, cost estimates for projects
* Prepare commercial documents for handover to the project execution team
* Prepare accurate quantity take-offs from project documentation
* Attend site visits
* Attend meetings (pre and post tender) with Professional Team and Client
* Provide input for or maintain the project risk register
* Contribute to the development of standard procedures
* Prepare activity schedules for projects; utilising appropriate estimating software
* Contribute to the management team maintaining close contact with other functions
* Contribute to the development of novel value engineered solutions with innovative and alternate ideas
* Evaluate quotations returned from suppliers and where necessary enter into correspondence to bring quotations in line with the project specific requirements
