Assistant Estimator


The Company

A Principal Contractor with a track record of delivering high quality residential projects with values ranging from £5m - £20m+. They have projects across a variety of different sectors including residential, retail and commercial.

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications

For this role you must possess the following;

* Prior experience working for a Main Contractor as an Estimator / QS for a minimum of 3 years
* Understanding of construction law, building and planning regulations
* Experience with working on new build & refurbishment projects up to £20m
* Previous experience working on Industrial & Residential projects
* A good communicator, able to deal with a range of people, tasks and obligations
* Well organised, self-starter, able to implement procedures and effectively manage all aspects of the works
* Commercial knowledge and ability to negotiate terms with a range of parties

The Role

As an Assistant Estimator based in Manchester, you support the Senior Estimator in the pre-construction and cost management stages across the residential & commercial sectors in order to secure new build and refurbishment projects across the North West.

Duties

* Reporting to the Senior Estimator
* Liaise with new and existing clients to receive new enquires
* Assess new tenders, checking for completeness and accuracy of information supplied
* Liaise with clients and manage any potential questions or queries
* Attend local sites for initial site surveys
* Prepare accurate and comprehensive conceptual budgets
* Preparation of analytical cost plans and commercial tenders
* Performing digital quantification take offs
* Update and amend database with up to date supply chain supply data
* Undertaking new contractor pre-qualification questionnaire
* Produce contractor tender information packs
* Evaluate returned documents to filter reliable, cost effective subcontractors
* Negotiate with subcontractors
* Produce value engineering options within tender proposals
* Adjudicate tender information prior to submission
* Prepare tender documentation
