Senior Estimator
The Company
A privately owned Main Contractor with a track record of delivering high quality residential projects with values ranging from £1m - £30m+. They have projects across a variety of different sectors including Residential, Retail, Commercial and Controlled Enviroments. This is a hybrid role (home / office) with an office location in Manchester city centre.
Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications
For this role you must possess the following;
* Prior experience working for a Main Contractor in a preconstruction role for a minimum of 10 years
* Knowledge of new build and refurbishment projects up to £30m+
* A good communicator, able to deal with a range of people, tasks and obligations
* Well organised, self-starter, able to implement procedures and effectively manage all aspects of the works
* Commercial knowledge and ability to negotiate terms with a range of parties
* Experienced in setting up and developing new preconstruction processes.
The Role
As a highly experienced Senior Estimator based in Huddersfield, you will lead the tender process with the view of securing high profile projects up to £30m
Duties
* Preparation of prime cost estimates
* Establish procurement strategies from earliest possible stage
* Develop direct reports in accordance with company policy
* Advise on finalisation matters of risk, qualification and margin
* Prepare and maintain robust, accurate, cost estimates for projects
* Prepare commercial documents for handover to the project execution team
* Prepare accurate quantity take-offs from project documentation
* Attend site visits
* Attend meetings (pre and post tender) with Professional Team and Client
* Provide input for or maintain the project risk register
* Contribute to the development of standard procedures
* Prepare activity schedules for projects; utilising appropriate estimating software
* Contribute to the management team maintaining close contact with other functions
* Contribute to the development of novel value engineered solutions with innovative and alternate ideas
* Establish and promote best practice in health, safety and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHQE department
* Evaluate quotations returned from suppliers and where necessary enter into correspondence to bring quotations in line with the project specific requirements
