Design Manager


The Company

A privately owned construction and engineering contractor, who specialises in modular healthcare buildings and hospital construction. They deliver single source construction and engineering solutions to the UK's public and private sectors consistently promoting innovation and sustainable construction.



The Project

As a highly experienced Design Manager you will be based from the companies Head Office in the North West, working on various Health Care projects from extensions and refurbishments, both traditional build and modular up to the value of £5m. You will manage the design team and collaborate with all aspects of the Project Management team and end client in order to ensure that the works are completed on time, to the client's specification and on budget.

Requirements

For this role it is essential that you carry the following professional qualifications as a minimum;

* CSCS Card
* Degree / HNC qualified in a building related subject

It is also preferred that you hold the experience below;

* Knowledge of BIM
* Working knowledge of design software such as REVIT & 4Projects
* Effective knowledge of CDM Regulations and working with BREEAM
* Knowledge or experience of modular / offsite and modern methods of construction
* Experience of design and build contracts with precise knowledge of education, healthcare, institutional residential and commercial buildings

Duties

* Chairing design team meetings
* Identify and rectify and design issues
* Checking and appraising design information
* Managing the technical drawings and plans for the build
* Identifying efficiencies, risk or opportunities, working with operations and pre-con teams
* Analyse and manage project costs before tender submission and throughout the programme
* Assist with the preparation of tender proposals such as detailed specifications and cost analysis
* Liaise with all levels of the supply chain including development team, from consultants to the sub-contractors
* Establish a platform for good communication and collaboration between relevant parties and thereby an effective flow of design and production information
* Manage and liaise with Building Control, Principal Designer Consultant, Planning Consultant, Fire Consultant and other Specialist Advisor packages as required to ensure compliance of all output to Regulatory and project specification requirements
